At Last - Drawing, Design and REAL Automation in one package
With many years experience in the cabinet making industry, Peter Page, Managing Director of LearCom, has strong views about the value of real automation in manufacturing.

Every month more manufacturers, using QuickCAM and CADCode software, experience the ability to enter jobs in minutes instead of hours and then see the job run to the machine smoothly, no matter how complex the product is.

After owning and running his joinery business in Parkes NSW, Peter became heavily involved with the technical side of Cabnetware and introduced Ardis software to Australia.

Peter’s experience and knowledge with joinery software became wide and varied and he began developing some home-grown Australian software specifically designed for the local market beginning with TIM, an administration system for kitchen manufacturers providing a customer tracking data base, quotations, production, purchasing, invoicing and debtors.

Following TIM, Peter developed QuickCAM providing answers and solutions to all the questions he had been asked over previous years.

“It is all about generating data” said Peter, “Most kitchen design packages are governed by limitations regarding the generation of data, which also limits the things you can produce and usually slows down the manufacturing process.

At LearCom, our focus has been on getting the product out the door faster and 100% correct, while saving on costs.”

“For that reason we have stayed away from kitchen design software preferring to work with the more reliable LearCom data entry system. That is until now!”

Last year Peter was approached by the management of ArtiCAD, a kitchen and bathroom design software developer, based in the UK.

ArtiCAD was looking for a company to take on the sales responsibilities in Australia and New Zealand. Peter quickly recognised the advantages of ArtiCAD over many of the other packages he had seen in operation over the years.

At the same time David Gurr, Commercial Director of ArtiCAD, discovered the unique advantages of the QuickCAM and CADCode software.

In no time at all there was a verbal agreement on the table and “ArtiCAD Down Under” is now part of the LearCom “REAL Solution”.

What this alliance brings to Australian joinery shops is the best of both worlds, with ArtiCAD providing the initial design drawings and producing floor plans, elevations and the most spectacular 3D high-speed photo-realistic rendered presentations right in front of the customer.

ArtiCAD’s ability to generate the right data and the new Australian data interface developed for QuickCAM, gets the data where it is needed to take advantage of QuickCAM’s powerful parametrics where properties can be changed, products can be quickly customised and a whole series of unique special effects takes place.

The result is an unequalled manufacturing process giving all the benefits of the best that Automation has to offer, in a system that provides a REAL Solution for detailed joinery, shopfitting, stockline or custom kitchen cabinets, MDF doors, counter tops, office systems, entry doors and pretty much anything else you can think of.

LearCom will be highlighting this new automation system at the AWISA exhibition.
